4. Currencies

Premium currency

Nuggies are the premium currency. They are non-tradeable and can only be purchased, never earned through play. Nuggies pay crafting fees, buy goods and Pirate Passes at the Plunderhold, and place Bounties.

Progression currency

Doubloons are the soft progression currency. They are earned through play and are non-tradeable. You collect them by completing objectives in Pillage Wars, and they are the main reward from loot chests, fishing, and bosses. Doubloons are spent on crafting, count towards rankings, and can be minted into ecosystem currencies.

Doubloons are wiped at each war reset. What survives a reset is land crystals, which is what the end-of-war cash-out converts your final Doubloon balance into.

There is a daily ceiling Doubloons earned from piracy and quests are capped per day. The window resets at 16:00 UTC. Energy Orbs raise your ceiling one for one, so a player who has banked orbs can keep earning past the point where an ordinary day would stop.

Governance Doubloons (ports, staking, and land) are outside the cap. They accrue whether or not you have hit it.

Land crystals

Land crystals are the long-term holding. They are paid out at the end of a war, they are what mints a plot in The Goldcoves, and they are what pays that plot's upkeep. They are the one currency that carries across a reset.

Ecosystem currencies

Captain & Company connects to several blockchain ecosystems, and each has its own currency:

  • mXP on Abstract
  • mScore on Soneium
  • mXP on Enjin

The Abstract and Soneium promotions are live.

For every Doubloon you earn in game, you earn the right to mint the same amount of ecosystem currency to its chain. Minting needs an active Pirate Pass and is handled from your profile at capnco.gg/profile.

You can also mint a soulbound ecosystem badge for each ecosystem. Each badge is an NFT that levels itself from bronze to silver to gold based on where you rank against every other player, measured by your rolling 30-day minted total for that ecosystem.

Individual ecosystems may run their own reward campaigns based on how much ecosystem currency players mint through Captain & Company. We do not promise or guarantee any particular campaign.
