7. Guilds
A guild is a crew that outlasts a single match: a name, a sigil, a roster, and a rank ladder.
Your sigil
A guild sigil is two choices and nothing else:
- A background colour.
- A symbol, from an approved list.
The game composites them wherever a guild appears. There is no custom artwork to upload and none to host, which is why a sigil renders identically for every player and never fails to load.
Your sigil is displayed alongside your ship on the minimap, on your guild's screen in game, and on the plots your guild holds in The Goldcoves. If your guild is doing well in a war, it may also appear on the champion podium back at the docks.
If your sigil looks wrong A guild flying a symbol an older build has no art for falls back rather than drawing the wrong one. If yours is not appearing, re-pick the symbol from the list on your profile page and it will resolve.
Joining or creating a guild
Join a guild from the Guilds tab in the pause menu. Create one from your account profile page, where you can also edit the name, change the sigil, manage members, and hand over ownership.
Ranks
From lowest to highest:
| Rank | Authority |
|---|---|
| Pirate | None |
| Swabbie | None |
| Boatswain | None |
| Officer | Accept and reject applicants, kick, set ranks |
| First Mate | Same as officer |
| Admiral | Everything, including handing over the guild |
The three crew ranks differ in standing only: they are there so a guild can recognise seniority without handing out authority. Authority starts at officer.
There is exactly one admiral, and it is whoever owns the guild. Admiral is not a rank you can promote someone into; it moves when ownership moves.
Guilds do not take a cut
Guilds carry no economics. There is no treasury, no tax on your earnings, no shares, and no staking multiplier. What you earn is yours. A guild is who you sail with, not a levy on sailing.
