9. Governance

Governance rewards do not require active gameplay. They engage players through idle strategy and macroeconomic mechanics instead. Doubloons earned through governance work like any other Doubloons.

Governance activities earn from a share of the total global Doubloons earned from piracy over the past 24 hours.

Because governance rewards are pegged to what everyone else earns in game, they rise when players are active and fall when they are not. Governance is a claim on the game's activity, not a substitute for it.

Ports

The Ports minigame is idle strategy: send collectible Ship Cards out on the high seas to pillage for extra rewards, including Doubloons and sometimes items. Play it from your profile page.

Ports are allocated 5% of globally earned Doubloons.

Token staking

The $CNC token can be staked in the staking vault on Ethereum to earn governance Doubloons. Your share is based only on how much CNC you have staked and is paid to you directly. It does not depend on which faction wins, so every staker is rewarded in proportion to their stake.

Only CNC staked on Ethereum counts. CNC held without staking, staked on Abstract, placed in a liquidity pool, or locked in the bridge does not earn governance Doubloons. Lock periods may apply, and further rewards for stakers may be considered later.

Token staking is allocated 15% of globally earned Doubloons.

Land

Land is the end-game progression system, and it hands players ownership of a real piece of the economy. The land screen in game is The Goldcoves.

Land is allocated 5% of globally earned Doubloons.

Minting a plot

A plot is crafted at the Landsmith from 5,000 land crystals. Land crystals come from the end-of-war cash-out, which converts the Doubloon balance you finish a war with into crystals that survive the reset.

Each faction's island holds a maximum of 1,000 plots. Splinterhaven belongs to the Sea Wolves and Ironreef to the Iron Corsairs, for 2,000 plots in all. You can only claim on your own faction's island.

Upkeep and the coffer

Plots need upkeep to stay active, paid out of the land coffer: crystals you deposit against your holdings, which are then consumed daily.

The coffer pays for every plot you hold. You do not choose which plot or which island to cover; deposit into it and it covers the lot. The Goldcoves screen shows what is in the coffer, what your daily burn is, and how many days that buys.

A plot that is not active on a given day earns nothing that day. If the coffer runs dry, a plot degrades over 72 hours and is then dissolved back into crystals automatically.

Giving up a plot

If you do not want a plot, dissolve it. Tap it on the chart in The Goldcoves and confirm: the plot is given up and its 5,000 crystals return to your coffer immediately, where you can withdraw them or leave them paying for the plots you kept.

Dissolving pays back exactly what minting costs, so there is no advantage to doing it and no penalty either. It is there so that owning land is a decision you can reverse rather than a bill you cannot stop.

What land pays

Active ownership can grant:

  • Player titles
  • Doubloons and land crystals
  • Guild titles

Rewards go out daily to plot owners on the side that earned more Doubloons over the past 24 hours.

The Governor title goes to the owner of the guild holding the most plots on an island. The Champion title goes to the owner of the guild that has destroyed the most enemy faction ships on behalf of that island.

Land is experimental and likely to be adjusted. Do not buy land as an investment or to speculate on real cash value. The system was inspired by RuneScape's Managing Miscellania and may grow more customization over time.
